Yes, you probably annoy me.
Goofy
Sean
Why you annoy me:
- Now, I don’t mind
people who graduate high school and move away who take the opportunity to
reinvent themselves as a better, cooler person. Kudos to people who manage
to do what most people only wish they could do. However, when people reinvent
themselves into something lamer than they were before, that annoys me.
- This guy was,
putting it as graciously as possible, a drama nerd. He was the type of
drama nerd whose interests involved swing dancing and karaoke. Remember
when swing dancing got popular in the late 90’s for a week? And suddenly
every dork on the block went out and bought a zoot suite and Royal Crown
Review album? That was this guy.
- This guy is now, by
my own labeling system, an emo core lamer. He wants the girl friendly emo
look, but he also wants to be taken seriously by his peers so he adopts a
hardcore attitude. The resulting mixture is a person who neither attracts
girls nor impresses guys. The lack of self-confidence shines through.
- But let’s not judge
books by their cover (despite what the publishing industry wants you to do)
and listen to what pearls of wisdom he offers on his website. “for some
reason everyone thinks its cool to get involved in this fagshionxcore
trend...its sad really...hardcore used to be pure and now its a fucking
joke...who gives a rats fucking ass how much you paid for your shirt at hot
topic and how much you paid for your pants at the fucking mall”
- Poignant. He is
brave enough to rail against Hot Topic! Being against Hot Topic is
embarrassing. Maybe if this was 1999 or even 2002 would that be topical (no
pun intended) but now it’s sad. Way to pick your battles, in your zeal to
be rebellious you have chosen to attack… something universally hated by
anyone already.
- He claims politics
are one of his interests. I think it’s safe to guess that he is either
vaguely leftist or hardcore conservative. In his own words he claims to be
into “S.H.A.R.P.” For those who don’t know, SHARP is a groups of
anti-racist skinheads who go around beating up people that they consider
fascist or racist. He is also interested in “working class ethics.” Well
it was leftist, but hardly vague. Surely, with such a rabid distaste for
wealthy racists that his reading list would be a who’s who of intellectual
leftist writing. Unfortunately not. It’s more a who’s who of beatnik
counter-culture. I couldn’t imagine anything less currently relevant today
than Jack Kerouac; sure it might have literary or some historical value, but
it’s not relevant. The only group of people I scoff at as much as
ignorant right-wingers are leftists with poor educational foundations for
their beliefs.
- His whole persona
can best be described as “painfully contrived.”
Possible mitigating factors:
- You’re still open
about being a dungeons and dragons nerd. Not that that is anything to
write home about, but the fact you have no problems admitting it on a fairly
public forum. Brave if nothing else, and makes you seem somewhat real and
less contrived.
- I was really mean to
you in elementary school, I feel somewhat sorry about that. The only reason
I don’t feel completely bad is because my view is that kids will be kids,
and kids are very mean. If I had been out of the ordinary levels of mean
I’d be more apologetic. As it is, I wouldn’t be that mean now towards
anyone and I do regret some things I said and did.
- If you are going to
randomly beat up people, it may as well be neo-nazis. I wonder though if
that is part of your persona or if you have ever actually beaten up anybody
in pursuit of your ideology.
