Most Annoying Trend of 2008 - LOLcats

Yes, lolcats.  This completely awful meme started in 2007 and was a comedy goldmine for a few weeks, but then it soured extremely rapidly.  I hate to sound like an internet elitist, because those people are also annoying, but when I first saw icanhazacheeseburger I thought it was clever and some of the pictures quite witty.  By October 2008, however, I didn't feel that it was very contemporary when some idiot posts a Myspace bulletin with 1000 lolcat pictures in it.  I get it: not everyone has their fingers on the pulse of pop culture like I do.  That said, when you stumble upon something your Aunt sends you in a chain email maybe, just maybe, you weren't getting in on the ground floor of the trend and perhaps you should keep it to your goddamn self.

Runner Up:  The explosion of Family Guy popularity.
